This quick-turnaround project for a remote learning seminar for school-age children was a challenge on many levels. The client is part of the Colorado Center for the Blind (CCB) in Littleton Colorado; Proximity is indebted to the CCB for many years of help and friendship.
We used a combination of mold-making techniques to make this custom design come to life. The raised lines show the equator and prime meridian. There is a raided cap at the north pole and an indent at the south pole for easy orientation.
This important museum in the heart of Five Points Denver wanted to showcase an historic map. The map shows the racial composition of the Five Points neighborhood c. 1929 using multi-color patterns.
Proximity chose to keep the look of the map intact by covering it in many transparent layers and textures. Yes, we even found transparent sandpaper for one of the textures.
Our last pandemic experiment was to bring tactile life to something from our childhood. Astérix & Obélix books kept us entertained as well as keeping our French and Latin up-to-date. The iconic two pages of the books were our only objectives. Please note, Proximity is not licensed by Dargaud. Yet.
